Akil graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Guy’s, King’s and St’Thomas’ School of dentistry, UK in 2003. Having undertaken vocational training, he was appointed as a senior house officer in restorative dentistry. The following year, he was awarded for the Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS), Royal College of Surgeons of England.
The accredited specialist training was completed at the internationally distinguished Eastman Dental Institute of Clinical Excellence, University College London. In 2009, as part of the specialist training, he qualified with distinction as Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in fixed and removable prosthodontics. This was subsequently followed by an award for Membership in Prosthodontics; the highest award available for the Prosthodontic mono-speciality by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Akil is registered as a Specialist in Prosthodontics with the General Dental Council of UK.
He has substantive experience as a specialist private practitioner in London and Surrey providing general and specialist restorative dental care. He has held position as a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and remains committed to continuous postgraduate teaching and research. This is supported further by publications in the refereed dental journals and presentations at the International Academy of Dental Research. He is an accredited member of The International Team of Implantology, The British Society of Restorative Dentistry and The British Society of Prosthodontics, organisations at the forefront promoting excellence in restorative and implant dentistry.
